MSCS TRAVEL GRANT

1) Objective

To support and encourage the professional development of early-career professionals in the cosmetic science industry by providing financial assistance for attending conferences, fostering knowledge exchange, networking opportunities, and the dissemination of innovative research.

 

2) Eligibility

    • Age and Career Stage: Applicants should be under 40 years old or within ten years of starting their career in the cosmetic science field.
    • Membership: Active Professional membership in the Malaysia Society of Cosmetic Scientists (MSCS).
    • Industry Scope: Professionals involved in R&D, formulation technology, or Basic and applied research related to cosmetic science.
    • Conference Relevance: The conference must be recognized in the cosmetic industry and have a strong focus on R&D innovation, sustainability, or safety in cosmetic science.

 

3) Application Requirements

    • Curriculum Vitae: Detailed CV highlighting academic and professional achievements.
    • Statement of Purpose: A 500-word essay explaining why the applicant wants to attend the conference, its relevance to their career, and how they intend to share the knowledge gained.
    • Recommendation Letter: At least one letter of recommendation from a supervisor, mentor, or industry leader.
    • Abstract Submission: A copy of the abstract and letter of acceptance. Priority is given to applicants presenting a podium.

 

4) Selection Criteria

    • Merit: Evaluation of R&D innovation based on its novelty, and inventive steps.
    • Potential Impact: Industry applicability of R&D Innovation which would raise the technology bar and benefit the cosmetic science community in Malaysia.

 

5) The successful applicant must submit a full financial statement and receipts for reimbursement of conference-related expenses, up to the approved amount sponsored by the grant. These documents must be provided within one month of returning from the conference.

IFSCC BASIC RESEARCH AWARD

The IFSCC Basic Research Award is awarded at an IFSCC Congress to the presenter of the best podium presentation pertaining to basic cosmetic research. The winners receive 10,000 Swiss Francs.

IFSCC APPLIED RESEARCH AWARD

The IFSCC Applied Research Award is awarded at an IFSCC Congress to the presenter of the best podium presentation pertaining to applied cosmetic research. The award amount is 10,000 Swiss Francs.

IFSCC JOHANN WIECHERS POSTER AWARD

The IFSCC Poster Award  is awarded to the author of the best poster presentation at an IFSCC Congress or Conference. The award amount is 4,000 Swiss Francs.

IFSCC JOHANN WIECHERS AWARD

The IFSCC Johann Wiechers Award (formerly the IFSCC Conference Award) consists of an amount of 3,000 Swiss Francs or its equivalent and is awarded to the presenter of the best podium presentation pertaining to either basic or applied cosmetic research at an IFSCC Conference.

 

This Award was first made in 2003 at the IFSCC Conference in Korea. It was set up to recognise the increasing scientific contribution made by the IFSCC Conferences and is for the Best Paper presented at the Conference.

 

IFSCC MAISON G DE NAVARRE YOUNG SCIENTIST ESSAY PRIZE

First awarded in 1988, this prize is awarded during an odd-numbered year to enable a young cosmetic scientist to attend an IFSCC Congress. The 2023 prize will be an invitation to attend the 2023 IFSCC Congress in Barcelona, Spain, with the cost of travel, accommodation and registration fees up to, but not exceeding, 5000 Swiss Francs, being reimbursed by the IFSCC. Any member of a member society of the IFSCC may apply, if they are no more than 35 years of age when they submit their essay (note: this means the Author can be 35 years, 364 days old when they submit their essay).

 

Applicants should submit an essay of between 500 and 3,000 words on one of four topics chosen below. The winner is determined by Committee, which receives blinded copies of all submitted essays.

 

IFSCC HENRY MASO AWARD FOR YOUNG SCIENTISTS

The Henry Maso Award is presented at IFSCC Congresses in even-numbered years to the Author of the best paper by a young scientist in an issue of the IFSCC Magazine published in the preceding two years (for the 2024 award specifically, published after the IFSCC 2021 Cancún Conference but before the IFSCC 2023 Barcelona Congress). The author must be not older than 40 years on the date of the paper submission. The winner is awarded a trip to the next IFSCC Congress to accept the Award, with the cost of travel, accommodations and registration fees up to 5000 Swiss Francs being reimbursed by the IFSCC. IFSCC FELLOW – HONORARY DESIGNATION (NEW)

During the 2019 IFSCC Fall Praesidium Meeting, the Praesidium unanimously agreed to begin bestowing the title of “IFSCC Fellow” to “recognize Members of the IFSCC who have achieved full maturity in the profession as evidenced by a record of outstanding achievement in the field of cosmetic science, and leadership and service to the IFSCC.”  This is an honorary designation with no duties or responsibilities required.

 

Fellows will be introduced at the annual IFSCC Congress or Conference and presented with a custom calligraphied certificate.
